Oil Skimmer at Longitudinal Clarifier with Changing Water Level over 2.0 m
FRIESS Oil Skimmer at Longitudinal Clarifier with Changing Water Level over 2.0 meter
The oil skimmer model S 100 is able to remove oil from different kind of liquids. During the operation of the oil skimmer the liquid level in the tank may change up to 2.0 m. At lowest level approx. 0.5 m oil collector tube will float on the surface of the liquid. If the level of the liquid rises approx. 2.0 m 4.5 m oil collector tube will float on the liquid surface. In case that the liquid level will rise 1.0 m more approx. 6.5 m oil collector tube will float on the surface. If the floating length of the oil collector tube is more than 5.0 m long it may happen that the oil collector tube will form knots. For this reason, an additional guide for the oil collector tube is necessary.
Especially, in collecting tanks for rainwater or buffer tanks in waste water treatment systems the level of the water may change much more than 2.0 m. In many applications the operation of the oil skimmer is controlled by level switches. In case that the water level is below minimum or higher than maximum the oil skimmer is switched off by level control switches.
In many applications it is necessary that the oil skimmer is in operation at all possible levels.
For this reason we now offer a new floating tube guide for the oil collector tube. The floating tube guide is able to adapt the floating length of the oil collector tube to various liquid levels. In case, that the maximum water level is reached, the floating tube guide floats as far away as possible from the oil skimmer. At lowest possible water level the tube guide floats directly near the oil skimmer. The tube guide itself is mounted on a floating ponton. The ponton floats exactly on top of the water. The ponton floats along a stainless steel profile which is mounted under an angle of 45°. At maximum water level the ponton floats as far away as possible from the oil skimmer. At low water level the ponton floats right underneath the oil skimmer. In order to use the floating tube guide the width or length or diameter of the tank has to be bigger than the height of the tank.
The picture shows oil skimmer S 100 at a longitudinal clarifier. A stainless steel profile is mounted in the basin under an angle of 45 °. Along this profile a floating ponton is mounted. The floating ponton is equipped with a guide for the oil collector tube. The concrete wall shows a black line which is the minimum water level. If the water level rises higher than minimum the floating ponton will float to the left along the stainless steel profile. The floating part of oil collector tube is drawn to the left when water level rises. At this installation the water level may change during operation of the oil skimmer approx. 3.0 m. In case that the basin is drained in order to clean the basin the ponton will be will kept in position as shown on the picture.
